History haunts the border town of Columbus, N.M. Every year on the anniversary of the 1916 Pancho Villa raid, riders on horseback drive north through the state of Chihuahua to cross the border in an act of bi-national reconciliation. This year though, when race relations frame the village’s mayoral election one week before the event, a contentious history threatens to become a very real re-enactment.
